Barcelona have got a very busy summer window ahead of them as a major squad reshuffle is looming. FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has already made a mark on his second tenure as the club president by completing the signings of defensive prospect Eric Garcia and Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero on free transfers.
It is also understood that Ronald Koeman will continue as the head coach of the Blaugrana for the next season. With the financial situation of the former La Liga champions being delicate at the moment, the club is willing to listen to offers for several of their star players.
Sergi Roberto came under scrutiny at the end of this season after the right-back failed to deliver. The 29-year-old had an injury-marred season which only restricted him to 15 La Liga appearances and did not hit top form. Roberto has been linked with a move away from the club this summer. But with Koeman set to continue at the helm, the Spaniard could well be on his way to signing another extension with the club.
Roberto is reportedly being eyed by Pep Guardiola, who highly values the right-back, and with him set to be backed this summer, a move to the Premier League might be on the cards for the 29-year-old. Todofichajes has reported this and the fact that a sum of €20-25 million should be enough to convince the Blaugrana to part ways with their man.
Samuel Umtiti is said to be yet another player who could be on his way out of Barcelona this summer. After an initial spell of impressive performances in his first two seasons at the Camp Nou, injuries have plagued his career post the FIFA World Cup 2018 and he could be on his way out of Spain. The 27-year-old has been asked to leave as the Blaugrana are said to be ready to offload him.
The Frenchman is said to be valued at around £10m, but the only stumbling block in this potential sale is the extremely high wages of the 27-year-old. The centre-back reportedly earns around £11 million per year. Though he has confirmed his desire to succeed at Barcelona, it does seem that his time at the club could be coming to an unfortunate end.
Next up is the case of Sergino Dest. Playing his maiden season at the Camp Nou, Dest impressed with his skills but soon hit a lean patch, putting his future at the club in doubt. Having said that, Dest is expected to be a part of the club’s plans for the future even though Juventus, Bayern Munich, and Arsenal have expressed a desire to sign the American international, as per Football London.
Dest has reiterated that his priority at the moment is to do well for Barcelona. The question about the 20-year-old’s future at the Camp Nou rose when Barcelona completed the signing of Emerson Royal from Real Betis.
Miralem Pjanic is another player who will be desperate for a move away from the Camp Nou this summer, now that Koeman is set to continue at the club. He was hardly used by the former Netherlands manager, and it is likely to be the case next season as well. Perhaps, the cules could send the Bosnian midfielder for a loan spell back to his old club in Juventus. The Bianconeri is willing to accept the return of the 31-year-old.
Barca were tremendously close to the signing of Georginio Wijnaldum until yesterday before PSG decided to shake up things. The Parisians have offered the former Liverpool midfielder a highly lucrative contract, and the 30-year-old is set to make a decision on his future in the next 24-48 hours.
