On May 22, Zimbabwe cricketer Ryan Burl took to Twitter and posted a picture of his torn shoes to ask for sponsorship for this national team. His needs were met within 24 hours when Puma agreed to cover for him.

This left cricketing fans all over the world heartbroken, with quite a few reactions showing concern for the state of affairs in the nation’s cricket team.

Any chance we can get a sponsor so we don’t have to glue our shoes back after every series 😢 @newbalance @NewBalance_SA @NBCricket @ICAssociation pic.twitter.com/HH1hxzPC0m

However, hours later, sports brand Puma Cricket came to the rescue and asked Ryan to take the glue away. Another happy news followed when Ryan announced that he will be joining the Puma Cricket Team. He also thanked the fans all over the world who showed support and made this happen within just 24 hours.

I am so proud to announce that I’ll be joining the @pumacricket team. This is all due to the help and support from the fans over the last 24 hours. I couldn’t be more grateful to you all. Thanks so much @PUMA

The Zimbabwean southpaw last represented his national side in a T20I against Pakistan on April 25 2021. He has played 46 matches for his country at the international level. He is an aggressive middle-order batsman and a part-time leg spinner with 660 runs and 26 wickets to his name. He is yet to reach his prime and will hope to improve in the coming seasons.

Zimbabwe travel to Ireland next, where they will play a three-match ODI series followed by a three-match T20I series which starts on August 6. It will serve as preparation for the T20 World Cup coming up in India later this year.
