India captain has come forward to help a former cricketer Sravanthi Naidu’s family in their fight against COVID. Kohli has donated INR 6.77 lakh for the treatment of her mother, who is battling against the deadly COVID-19 virus.
Naidu’s parents, S.K. Suman and Govind Naidu, who are aged 57 and 61 respectively, are battling the deadly virus. They are currently in critical condition and need funds for their treatment.
N Vidya Yadav, the BCCI South Zone convenor of women’s cricket, was thankful to Kohli for his wonderful gesture. She also thanked India’s fielding coach R Sridhar who conveyed the issue to the Indian captain.
“Honestly, I was amazed at his spontaneous gesture. Such a great gesture from such a great cricketer. I am also grateful to the Indian fielding coach R. Sridhar who also took up the issue with Kohli,”
the BCCI South Zone convenor of women’s cricket N Vidya Yadav was quoted saying to Sportstar.
A couple of weeks ago, Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma had organised a fundraiser to help the people suffering from COVID-19.
The star husband-wife duo donated INR 2 crore themselves and set their target as INR 7 crore during the fundraiser.
However, an overwhelming response ensured that Kohli and Anushka were able to raise a whopping sum of more than INR 11 crore.
