Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will take part in the Dhaka Premier League 2021, which implies that he will miss the remainder of the ongoing Pakistan Super League. The DPL League will be played in T20 format this time around instead of the usual 50-over format.
Shakib was not in any of the squad for the 2021 edition of PSL, but later, he was included as one of the replacement players. The experienced all-rounder was picked up by Lahore Qalandars in a special replacement draft which was recently organized by the PCB. Two other Bangladesh players – Liton Das and Mahmudullah – have signed for Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans, respectively.
Mohammedan Sporting Club officials submitted a letter signed by Shakib, in which he has expressed a desire to take part in the domestic tournament.
“We have submitted a letter signed by Shakib to CCDM that says he is keen to take part in the competition for us,”
Tarikul Islam Tito, a top official of MSC, told Cricbuzz.
However, the Sporting Club has to take permission from the Bangladesh Cricket Board in order to rope in Shakib Al Hasan. The southpaw had not participated in the last edition because of his ban. This time around, he is allowed to choose any team he desires. MSC has been trying its best to get him in the squad, but he has to get a clearance certificate from the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
Tito claimed that Shakib Al Hasan will not play in the PSL and instead has opted to be part of the MSC team in DPL.
“He is a free player because he was not part of the 2019-20 DPL due to his ban, and now he is eligible to take part, and we have shown our keenness to take him on our side,”
Tito added.
