Dwayne Bravo, a part of the Trinbago Knight Riders since the inception of the CPL, has now moved to St Kitts & Nevis Patriots ahead of the 2021 season. The veteran all-rounder stated that he needed a new challenge and wants to work with young talent at this stage of his career.
Dwayne Bravo has decided to move to St Kitts & Nevis Patriots before the start of the 2021 edition of the Caribbean Premier League. The defending and four-time champions Trinbago Knight Riders accepted Bravo’s request and traded him to SKNP. Dinesh Ramdin moves back to TKR.
The veteran West Indian all-rounder felt that he needed a new challenge and wished to work with young talent, which will benefit West Indies Cricket on the whole. Thus, being a part of a new franchise might provide him with that new challenge.
“At this stage of my career I needed a new challenge, which is to work with the young talent for the benefit of Cricket West Indies. Also becoming part of a new franchise SNKP will provide me with a new challenge in CPL. I want to thank TKR for respecting my wishes and for all their support over the years. I also appreciate everything they’ve done for Trinidad and Tobago in general,“
Dwayne Bravo was quoted saying in a statement.
So far, Bravo has played all his cricket in the CPL for TKR. He has played 79 games in the CPL and has picked up 106 wickets. With the bat, he has scored 965 runs at a strike-rate of 135.53. He even led TKR to three titles in 2015, 2017 and 2018. Bravo was the vice-captain when TKR won the title last season.
With no Bravo, Sunil Narine will be Kieron Pollard’s deputy in the TKR line-up this season. Meanwhile, Ramdin has been traded into TKR. The wicket-keeper batsman was a part of the TKR line-up between 2016 and 2019.
The ninth edition of the CPL will start on the 28th of August. The entire tournament will be played at Warner Park in St Kitts & Nevis.
