BCCI President Sourav Ganguly recently claimed that he admires Rishabh Pant and is obsessed with his ability to win games. ‘Dada’ called the Indian wicket-keeping batsman an ‘absolute match-winner.’
BCCI president Sourav Ganguly claimed that he is ‘obsessed’ with Rishabh Pant and the outrageous shots he plays on the field. Referring to him as an absolute match-winner, Dada opined that fortunately for India, the young generation is filled with a flurry of natural stroke makers and talented individuals who are not afraid of expressing themselves on the field.
He said that being the BCCI President, it would not be right to mention his personal favorite player, but he enjoys watching Kohli and Rohit Sharma on the field. He went on to add that he likes Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami as they have performed consistently for India in the past few years. He also mentioned that he is especially impressed with Shardul Thakur who plays with a lot of heart.
Immensely satisfied with the current lot of Indian players, Ganguly claimed that India has been blessed with players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant.
There is so much talent for cricket in India that I think it will produce world beaters in every generation,
Sourav added.
Ganguly was first picked in the Indian team which toured Australia in 1992, but he didn’t get a single game. Recalling his experience against the Aussies, he claimed that the hard work that followed in the subsequent years made him a better cricketer.
My series in Australia in 1992 actually helped me become a better cricketer. When I went to England in 1996, I was much stronger. I knew what it takes to score runs at international level,
he added.
Highlighting the importance of domestic cricket, Sourav said that the four years of domestic cricket after his first tour Down Under made him a better cricketer.
Ganguly recently underwent two rounds of angioplasty at a Kolkata hospital. The ‘Prince of Kolkata’ claimed that he is now absolutely fit and is back to his regular schedule.
