KKR’ Andre Russell and Shakib Al Hasan have signed up as replacements for the remainder of the Pakistan Super League 2021, PCB on Tuesday.
Postponed from its traditional window due to a breach of health safety protocols amid the COVID-19 pandemic, PSL 2021 is set to resume from June 1.
Russell will be replacing Tom Banton in the Quetta Gladiators squad, while Shakib is set to join Lahore Qalandars to fill Rashid Khan’s void.
In another marquee replacement signing, New Zealand’s Martin Guptill was picked up by Karachi Kings to replace South African Colin Ingram.
Australians Usman Khawaja, Joe Burns, James Faulkner and Callum Ferguson are also part of the list featuring the 19 replacements signings that have taken place.
Interestingly, Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United have reserved one pick each and will be submitting these names later to the PCB.
Only 14 matches were possible when the PSL 2021 kickstarted in March as the PCB were forced to look for another window due to the multiple coronavirus positive cases among the players and staff involved.
The remaining 20 matches of the competition will now be held from June 1 at the National Stadium in Karachi.
