Defensa y Justicia goalkeeper Ezequiel Unsain was visibly distraught after conceding a 92-minute goal off a kick from Boca Juniors forward Luis Vazquez in the dying minutes of the Primera Division clash (1-0).
Bowing his head in defeat, the 6ft 2 shot-stopper was filmed on his knees staring intently at the jubilant away fans before his gaze was drawn to a young Halcon fan who had made his way onto the field of play.
After receiving a warm embrace from the young fan, Unsain held the boy in his arms, appreciating the gesture and closing his eyes as the five-second hug came to an end. The 27-year-old then rose to his feet as the pair walked towards the penalty box’s edge.
After conceding the 92nd-minute winner, Colombo wrapped his arm around Unsain but patted the young supporter on the head to express his gratitude for sticking by his colleague. Several football fans praised the classy gesture on social media.
“The beauty of the game,” commented an adoring supporter. “This is too good to believe,” posted another.
“If you need to watch one video today, it’s this one. The Soul Embrace 2.0,” stated a third.
It was an special moment that no security personnel wanted to be in the middle of as the child walked off hand-in-hand with Unsain. The 12-year-old boy was later identified as Tiziano, and his father, Daniel Carrizo, spoke about the ordeal on Radio La Red.
He told the station:
“My son loves Unsain. The times we have gone to the field, they brought him posters and rags, but nothing ever happened.
“Yesterday he told me: ‘Daddy, look. I’m going to fulfill my dream and I’m going to enter the field’. Like every boy, he climbs, but I didn’t believe him.”
