Odisha FC announced the signing of former RoundGlass Punjab FC goalkeeper Lalthuammawia Ralte on a two-year contract ahead of the Indian Super League on July 10.
The Mizoram-born custodian started his career at Shillong Lajong FC by signing a contract with the newly-promoted club to play in the I-League in the summer of 2011. He then helped the club reach the Federation Cup semi-finals against Salgaocar. Ralte went on to appear in over 40 games for the Meghalaya-based club.
Ralte joined Bengaluru FC in 2014 when the club was still competing in the I-League. He made 20 appearances for the Blues in his debut season, helping them win the I-League title and then guarding the goal in the club’s run to the AFC Cup final the following season. Ralte made his AFC Champions League debut at Larkin Stadium Malaysia against Johor Darul Ta’zim.
The goalkeeper then joined FC Goa in 2018, but was loaned out to Kerala Blasters and East Bengal the following season, where he made nine appearances. In 2020, he re-joined Bengaluru. He then moved to RG Punjab in the I-League, where he made an impression before joining Odisha FC.
The Juggernauts, who finished seventh in the ISL 2021-22 season, have made some impressive signings ahead of the upcoming edition of the ISL. Defensive midfielder Osama Malik, midfielder Saul Crespo, and striker Pedro Martin have joined Odisha FC, while centre-back Carlos Delgado and forward Diego Mauricio have returned for a second stint.
Furthermore, Odisha FC has signed defenders Narender Gahlot and Nikhil Prabhu as well as attacker Michael Soosairaj on permanent contracts. Midfielder Raynier Fernandes and left-back Denechandra Meitei have joined on loan from Mumbai City and Kerala Blasters, respectively.
The Juggernauts finished seventh in the points table in the Indian Super League last season. However, with plenty of signings, they would aim to finish in the top four in the upcoming season.
