Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has reportedly halted talks with the Reds over a contract extension amid interest from French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
According to a tweet from Bild’s Christian Falk, the Senegalese international is very interested to join the Paris based clubs chiefly due to economic reasons. Meanwhile, it is also reported that Les Parisiens are ready to offer the 30-year-old a lucrative salary in an attempt to lure him to the Le Parc des Princes.
The player’s current deal at Anfield expires in June 2023 and move could be on the horizon as Bayern Munich are also interested to sign the player apart from PSG. The player’s current deal is believed to be worth around 200,000 pounds a week.
Although, the 30-year-old continues to be linked away from the Reds, Mane himself told the reporters that he is ‘honestly very happy’ at the Merseyside club.
‘Yeah, I am happy here, I think when we win trophies, I am happier! But I think I am trying to enjoy every moment, trying to assist my teammates and I think the boys make it a lot easier for me.
‘I am honestly very happy. I am just trying to enjoy every moment and assist my team-mates. Without my team-mates I’m nothing.’
he said.
The speculation regarding the Senegalese’s exit from Anfield started after Die Roten made contact with the Reds winger. The Bavarians consider Mane as an ideal attacking reinforcement this summer as they look out for Barcelona bound Robert Lewandowski’s alternatives.
However, it now seems that the French club might leapfrog the Germans in the race to sign the Liverpool superstar. The Ligue 1 giants have the financial firepower while they are also better placed to sign the Senegalese star who can be a like to like alternative for Kylian Mbappe next season who is expected to join Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Liverpool, on their part, have been planning to hold talks over a new contract for the former Southampton man. Mohammad Salah too sees his contract expire next summer, and thus the Reds will be keen to sign both players to new terms and maintain the core of the players who have brought the club so much glory.
