The Blues have reportedly earmarked PSV Eindhoven’s Ibrahim Sangare as a potential alternative for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice. The Hammers are unwilling to part ways with their star midfielder, which could force interested clubs to look elsewhere.
Chelsea’s interest in Declan Rice is likely to hit a stumbling block this summer, with rivals West Ham unwilling to part ways with their star midfielder just yet. Manager David Moyes confirmed it earlier this year, claiming that an offer short of 150 million for the Englishman, whose current deal expires in 2025, wouldn’t even bring the club to the table.
Rice’s contract is another major obstacle preventing any deal from happening this summer – unless a club agrees to pay a nine-figure sum for his services. As per talkSPORT, the Hammers have tabled an eight-year renewal worth 200,000 pounds a week in front of the 23-year-old. However, he has turned down the offer as is being reported.
Nonetheless, in dire need of midfield rejuvenation, Chelsea have decided to explore alternatives, one of which is PSV Eindhoven’s Ibrahim Sangare. The 24-year-old moved to the Eredivisie at the start of the 2020/21 season from Toulouse in a five-year deal.
During the previous two years, the Ivorian has racked up more than fifty appearances for the Dutch giants, impressing those inside and outside the club. As per a Mirror report, Chelsea eye Sangare as an alternative to the 150 million-rated Rice; in comparison, Sangare would be available to sign for a meagre fee of 30 million.
The Blues have also been linked with AS Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni – albeit as have been almost all of Europe’s top clubs. The Frenchman’s breakthrough performances have put him on the front of the shortlist for clubs such as Liverpool and Real Madrid, making it much harder for Chelsea – or any other interested party – to negotiate a deal with the Monegasque club. Tchouameni, as per reports, will likely fetch a fee in the region of 60 million should he transfer this summer.
