Dinesh Karthik, who joined Royal Challengers Bangalore for INR 5.50 Crores at the 2022 mega auction, says he is relishing the role-clarity and security provided by the management to come up with his best performances in the current edition of the Indian Premier League.
The 36-year-old thinks assessing the situation has been key to his success, but equally influential has been the backing and the clarity given to him by the team management.
“It’s about assessing the situation, trying to understand and use your experience to figure out what’s the best way to do it on that day or that wicket. The part that I have been most excited about is the clarity that has been given to me and I am trying to do my best at it,”
he told IPLT20.com.
Batting in overs 16-20 for RCB, Karthik has put in an impressive display down the order for his latest franchise. The IPL journeyman has made scores of 32*, 14*, 44*, 7, 34. His unbeaten 44 in the win against the Rajasthan Royals was an exceptional effort, as it helped Faf du Plessis-led side secure victory from a hopeless situation.
Walking into bat with RCB struggling at 87 for five and needing a further 82 runs off 45 balls, Karthik got into his own and blasted a memorable 23-ball cameo to propel his team through with four fours and three sixes.

The veteran targeted fellow Tamil Nadu cricketer and ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for a 21-run over that changed the momentum of play and never looked back.
Despite their recent loss to Chennai Super Kings, RCB sit fifth in the standings with three wins from their first five games. With his team looking in good shape, Karthik was asked to predict if this could be their year?
“(Laughs) I am not a man for predictions. But I must say the mood in the camp is good and I think we are (heading) in a good direction. We are in a good space, so I must say we are looking good at the moment.”
