Sky Sports Germany says Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski is keen on a switch to Camp Nou, which, he believes, will boost his chances of winning the coveted Ballon d’Or. The 33-year-old has been at his lethal best for the Bavarians over the last few years and came agonizingly close to winning the prize in 2020, but the award ceremony was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Lewandowski is yet to turn in a transfer request at Bayern, who are keen to hold onto him for the time being and would need to be persuaded to release him by way of a transfer fee. Barcelona, meanwhile, are prepared to offer the Poland international a short-term contract if a move can be agreed upon, paying him a salary in the region of 35 million euros for the same.
The striker is in the form of his life at the moment. Following a remarkable 48 goals in 40 games across all tournaments last season, he has scored 46 in 40 this time around with at least six more games left to play.
Meanwhile, Sky also reports Barcelona are keeping a close eye on VfB Stuttgart’s marauding left-back/left wingback, Borna Sosa. The club’s scouts were present in the stands to watch the Croat play against Borussia Dortmund in what was a 2-0 defeat for him. Moreover, the club is currently engaged in talks with the player’s representatives, one whose release clause stands at 25 million.
Barcelona want Sosa to reinforce the left side of their defence, where the first option presently is an ageing Jordi Alba and his alternative, a young Alejandro Balde.
24-year-old Sosa has been one of Stuttgart’s stalwarts since their promotion back to the Bundesliga in 2020; since his move to Germany from Dinamo Zagreb in 2018, he has notched up 78 appearances and three goals.
