Internazionale confirmed that midfielder Marcelo Brozovic has renewed his contract with the club until 2026, following months of speculation. Reports claim that the Nerazzurri will attempt to lock centre-back Milan Skriniar down next.
Following months of speculation, the Croatian international has committed his future to the Nerazzurri, whom he has represented since 2015, amassing 279 appearances across all competitions in this period.
“I’m delighted to have signed a new deal with Inter. I was desperate to renew my contract and the club was aware of that,”
“I’ve always said to my agents that I wouldn’t want to speak to any other club unless Inter told me that they weren’t interested in renewing my deal.”
said the 2018 World Cup silver medalist upon signing his new deal.
Brozovic becomes the fourth player to renew his deal with Inter this season, following in the footsteps of striker Lautaro Martinez, midfielder Nicolo Barella, and left-wing-back Federico Dimarco – all of whom have penned down new deals until 2026, too. Next in line, as per reports in Italy, is centre-back Skriniar.
The Slovakian has been the subject of transfer interest from teams across Europe in recent years and Inter are keen to lock him down for the long term. Skriniar’s current deal expires in 2023, and the club is looking to open talks with his representatives in the coming weeks, as per La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Having joined Inter from Sampdoria in 2017, Skriniar has made just over 200 appearances for the Nerazzurri. The 27-year-old was a key player alongside Stefan de Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni in Antonio Conte’s three-at-the-back system the season before, which the Italian used to help guide the club to its first league title in a decade.
