ATK Mohun Bagan are set to complete the signing of Hyderabad’s Liston Colaco on a massive deal, IFTWC claim. The 22-year-old attacker was recently awarded for his performances in the 2020/21 Indian Super League season by being called up to the national team. Rumours suggest that he has now bagged a massive deal to switch teams domestically.
The report claims that ATK Mohun Bagan got interested in the player due to his past performances and made him one of their key transfer targets. Hyderabad initially wanted to keep hold of their prized asset, but the fee offered by the Kolkata side was too high to be refused.
The said fee is reported to be among the highest paid for a player. ATK Mohun Bagan are said to be paying around Rs 1 Crore to conclude the deal, thereby surpassing what they paid for Manvir Singh – who is their record signing presently.
Colaco joined Hyderabad FC in 2019 after coming through the ranks at FC Goa. The winger was a bit-part player for the Gaurs during his three seasons at the club and often switched between the senior squad and the ‘B’ team. Colaco made eight appearances for Goa during his stay at the club but did not score any goals.
The youngster switched to Hyderabad in January 2020 on a two-and-a-half-year deal. He made four appearances during his first half-season at the club but was a key member of the first team during his first full season. He made 19 appearances for The Nizams during the 2020/21 ISL season and scored two goals. Despite Colaco’s efforts, Hyderabad narrowly missed out on a playoff spot. They finished on 29 points, two behind fourth-placed FC Goa.
Colaco made most of his appearances for Hyderabad from the bench but did manage to score twice. He was also their top assister for the season and was subsequently called up by Igor Stimac to the Indian National Team camp in Dubai. The youngster was an unused substitute in India’s match against Oman but was given his first cap in the 6-0 thrashing at the hands of United Arab Emirates.
