It was another triple panga night here at the Vivo Pro Kabaddi League season 8. Haryana Steelers took on Bengal Warriors in the first game of the night and beat them by a comprehensive margin of 46-29.
The star for the Steelers was their captain Vikas Khandola who scored a Super 10. The skipper was assisted by Ashish and Vinay, who earned six and eight points, respectively.
Ravi Kumar and Mohit each scored three tackle points in defence, while one of the league’s top defenders this season Jaideep got two.
For the defending champions, it was like a one-man show as only Maninder Singh got a Super 10, managing 13 raid points in total. In defence, they could manage only four tackle points, out of which three were scored by Ran Singh alone.
The lacklustre performance of the defence meant that Bengal got all out thrice in the game. They never recovered from the all-outs and ultimately lost the match.
Haryana Steelers are now fourth on the points table, while Bengal Warriors are 10th.
In the second match of the Triple Panga night, Bengaluru Bulls were up against Dabang Delhi. In their last encounter, the Bulls had demolished Delhi with a 61-22 win, but this game was completely different.
Naveen Kumar was back for Delhi, and this time, he played the full game and scored 13 raid points. Pawan Kumar Sherawat completed his Super 10 and scored a total of 16 raid points.
As the game started, it looked like a battle between the two raiders, but eventually by the end of first half it was Delhi who took a good lead. In the second half, the Bulls made a comeback, and they themselves took a good lead. However, but Delhi made a brilliant comeback in the last 5 minutes to level the scores.
The Bulls defence fared poorly compared to Delhi’s defensive line as Joginder Narwal and Manjeet Chillar got seven tackle points combined. The latter, in fact, did the most significant tackle in the penultimate raid of the match to oust Pawan.
After this tied result, Delhi are still at the top of the table while the Bulls sit third.
The third game of the night saw Patna Pirates bulldoze their way to win against Gujarat Giants as they beat them 43-23.
Patna got all out in the first 10 itself, but the Giants couldn’t capitalize on their lead as the Pirates made a comeback to end the first half at 18-16.
After the pause, it seemed as if only the Pirates were playing as the Giants struggled to get going.
The architects of Patna’s win were Guman Singn, who scored his second Super 10 of the season, and Mohammadreza Chiyaneh, who finished with eight tackle points.
For the Giants, no one apart from Mahendra Singh Rajput could manage more than six points.
This win has now put Patna in a commanding second position on the points table as they now have 55 points from 15 games. The Giants, in turn, are placed 11th.
