Dabang Delhi KC had a big win over defending champions Bengal Warriors as they thrashed their opponents 52-35 returning the favor from the PKL season 7 finale, where Bengal stunned Delhi to win their first PKL title.
Naveen Kumar was exceptional in the game against the Warriors picking up a career-best twenty-four points. He received tremendous support from Vijay Malik, who achieved his first super ten of the season. Talking to the media after their win, Dabang Delhi KC head coach Krishan Hooda talked about his players and his advice to them while raiding.
“We have no primary or secondary raiders in the team, all the players in my team are equal for me.
Vijay is not a support raider for Naveen, he is a very talented kid, the thing is when you have a player like Naveen in the team, you sometimes go under the radar.
But, believe me, when I say it, Vijay is a very special player for me, and is very close to my heart!”
Owing to his exceptional display this Pro Kabaddi League campaign, Malik and has been prioritized over national skipper Ajay Thakur, which speaks volumes about the trust Hooda, and Joginder Narwal have in him.
“All the raids for us is like a do-or-die raid!”, Hooda speaks on the team strategy while raiding
Dabang Delhi absolutely dominated Bengal Warriors throughout the game. One can easily figure the level of raiding control Kumar and Malik displayed as DDKC did not have a single do-or-die raid in the entire contest. Hooda was quick to open up about the strategy his team implemented while raiding in the opposition’s half.
“All the raids in the game are very important to us, there is no first raid or third raid for my players, I always tell them to pick up points whenever they can, my advice is quite simple, once the raider is in the opposition’s zone, they have to decide if they want to attack or not!”
Dabang Delhi scored three wins and one draw in their four PKL8 fixtures, and are currently at the top of the points table with eighteen points to their name. Fans will hope that the team can continue their winning run when they face Tamil Thalaivas in their upcoming fixture.
