Real Madrid haven’t felt the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo in the last few seasons. A major reason for that is the form of Karim Benzema, who Real boss Carlo Ancelotti claims is playing at the same level as the Portuguese.
The Real Madrid boss believes that Benzema is currently performing at Ronaldo’s level. The Frenchman has been in sensational form for Los Blancos this season, contributing with 20 goals in 23 appearances, and is one of the key reasons behind their domestic dominance.
“I think so, because to his game he’s added a massive, regular ability to put the ball in the back of the net,”
“He’s at the level of Cristiano Ronaldo or Haaland. Benzema is a player who makes a difference. We saw it once again in the game against Athletic, with two goals in quick succession. He’s in amazing form.”
the Italian told AS.
In addition to Benzema, Vinicius Jr has also found his feet this season. The Brazilian had struggled to string together consistent performances since his big-money move across the Atlantic. However, a sharp upturn in form this season has seen him contribute with 10 goals – the third-best in the league – and four assists.
“Vinicius has changed above all because he takes time to pause on the important moments of each move,”
“The main thing about a player is that they can do the difficult things well because they’ll end up being able to do the easy things.”
he said of the Brazilian.
Owing to Benzema and Vinicius Jr’s form, Loc Blancos are cruising at the top of LaLiga at the moment. The pair has contributed with 25 of the team’s 41 goals so far this season, which is the highest tally in the league by some margin.
Real Madrid are currently on 46 points after 19 matches, eight ahead of second-placed Sevilla, albeit having played one game more than the Andalusians.
Meanwhile, after a difficult start to their Champions League campaign, the thirteen-time European winners were also able to secure passage to the Round-of-16, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain for a berth in the quarterfinals.
