The Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans sealed their spot in the final four, with a top two spot all but confirmed. The loss puts Royal Challengers Bangalore in somewhat of a pickle, with the Bangalore franchise in the middle of nowhere. This defeat further compounded their existing struggles with respect to their net run rate, which was left languishing after their heavy defeats against Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad previously. It was once again a batting failure for the Royal Challengers. The finish did not go as per plan, as Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar’s fantastic platform was left unused, with Bangalore finishing on 170 after their…

Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered a thrashing at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad, as they were subjected to perhaps the worst defeat in this edition of the Indian Premier League. It was a complete and total failure in RCB’s batting line-up, for which credit must be accorded to the sensational Marco Jansen. The South African induced a calamitous collapse in the RCB top-order, breaking the back of their batting, after which it only went downwards for Faf du Plessis’ men, who eventually folded for a hapless total of 68. The small target was a walk in the park for the Orange Army, who knocked…

The in-form Shubman Gill was dismissed early, as Kiwi veteran Tim Southee struck with what was a rather loose delivery. Pandya was at his best, playing an incredibly mature innings of 67, after…

The sides played out a competitive game, but its end was marred with a scandal that saw a seemingly clear no-ball decision not being given by the on-field umpires. Wisden has named outgoing England Test captain Joe Root as the Leading Cricketer in the World in the 2022 edition of the Wisden Cricketer’s Almanack, which was published this week. The Englishman had a magical 2021, scoring a whopping 1708 runs at an average of 61.00. Their batting was especially poor, as the side did not receive any substantial contributions from any batsman barring Root, making his record even more special. The 30-year old…
