A fervent sports enthusiast who is obsessed with what other people would call 'pointless'.

Former Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar has lashed out at some members of the Indian T20 World Cup squad after they decided to skip the optional training session on Friday ahead of the high-stakes clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday. He primarily disagreed with the concept of an optional training session, but his objection was furthered after the team got a day’s rest after their warm-up game against New Zealand was abandoned due to bad weather. Such being the case, the stalwart questioned the players who decided to skip the optional training session, especially ahead of such an important tournament. Gavaskar…

Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado was outstanding as Juventus picked up a much-needed three points with a dominant performance against Empoli. Massimilano Allegri’s men scored four goals against a listless Empoli defence which seemed to just give up in the second half. Facing a buoyant Empoli, who had beaten Monza in a good display in their previous league game, Juve came into the Allianz Stadium desperately needing three points after dropping to eighth place in the league table. The Old Lady got off to exactly the start that was required, as Cuadrado set up Moise Kean for the opening Juventus goal in the eighth minute.…

Explosive opening batsman Jason Roy is expected to make his limited-overs comeback during England’s three-match ODI series against Australia in November. After a disastrous home summer that saw him average 12.66 in England’s T20 international games against India and South Africa while managing just 51 runs in six innings for Oval Invincibles in the Hundred, Roy was dropped from the England squad for the ongoing T20 World Cup. Furthermore, the 32-year-old also recently lost his central contract with the England and Wales Cricket Bboard, but was kept on an incremental contract. He will, however, keep his spot in the 50-over lineup and is slated…

Napoli’s winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has turned quite a few heads this season with a series of outstanding performances. Luciano Spalletti’s side are on top of the Serie A table, two points ahead of Atalanta, who are also unbeaten in the league. Napoli, however, have an extra victory and seem to be cruising to the title if they can keep this sort of form up. Napoli’s successes can majorly be attributed to star signing Kvaratskhelia, who has been on a different level this season. The Georgian international has been Napoli’s best player, bagging three goals and five assists, consistently dropping man-of-the-match performances.…

ATK Mohun Bagan ran riot over the Kerala Blasters defence as they picked up three points away from home in comfortable fashion. Australian centre-forward Dimitri Petratos was the architect of the Mohun Bagan victory, as he scored a hat-trick and registered an assist against the finalists of the inaugural season of the tournament. Petratos was simply unplayable on the day, and was wonderfully supported by the other members of the Mohun Bagan attack, including Liston Colaco and Hugo Boumous, who got a combined three assists. https://twitter.com/OptaJeev/status/1581679913639153665 Facing the ATK Mohun Bagan side at home in the Jawaharlal Nehru International stadium in Kochi, KBFC opened the…

The Islanders posted a lucky victory against Josep Gombau’s side, who were the better team on the day. Odisha dominated the middle of the park and attacked far more than their counterparts but still ended up on the losing side after a last-minute goal doubled Mumbai’s lead, which had resulted from Odisha full-back Shubham Sarangi putting the ball into his own net in the early part of the second half.  https://twitter.com/OptaJeev/status/1581319016106188800 Although there wasn’t a standout performance in the game from either side, Odisha’s collective attacking efforts were clearly too much for the Mumbaikars to handle, as they conceded 16…

Ivan Toney’s double ensured a crucial victory for Brentford as they beat Brighton 2-0 in the Premier league. The centre-forward scored in either half, allowing Thomas Frank’s side to earn a much-needed three points.  The scoreline perhaps does not provide an accurate picture of the game, as Brighton, under newly appointed manager Roberto de Zerbi, have seemed to pick up right where Graham Potter left off, at least in terms of the style of play. The hosts were by far the more creative team at the Brentford Community Stadium, but were let down by a lack of end product. They had a number of chances to…
