Sri Lanka batter Danushka Gunathilaka, awaiting trial on charges of alleged sexual assault, was granted bail on Thursday. He appeared in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court via an audiovisual link from Parklea jail. A photo of him in “blackface” taken at a student party in 2009, was published by British newspaper The Sun last year. The charges against Sri Lankan left-hand batter Danushka Gunathilaka get more serious after the reports revealed he tried to repeatedly choke the Sydney woman in an alleged rape attempt. According to the reports, the woman feared for her life and could not get away. The woman alleged that she was sexually assaulted four times at her residence in Rose Bay on November 2, following a date with the player. The Pakistan Cricket Board has given permission to its players – who were originally not part of the player auction – to sign up with the Cricket South Africa’s SA20 league. The PCB decision comes after SA20 introduced wildcard entries, through which each franchise can bring in one extra player in the squad.
