Villa is expected to accept a record bid for their talisman despite its recent attempts to tie him down. Manchester United confirmed the arrival of Jadon Sancho earlier this month, following a pursuit that lasted almost a year. Sancho’s arrival, however, could push some players towards the exit, albeit temporarily. It might not all be smooth sailing for Chelsea in their pursuit of Jules Kounde. Reports earlier claimed that the Blues were looking to agree a player plus cash deal with Sevilla, Kurt Zouma being the player in question. However, the Frenchman has his eyes set elsewhere. There were good and bad elements on display during Liverpool’s 4-3 loss against Bundesliga strugglers Hertha Berlin. While shaky defense allowed the Reds to concede 4, it did feature the returning Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez – who missed most of last season. Being one of the more successful clubs in the world, it is very uncharacteristic of United that they have not won a trophy in a long time. Their last piece of silverware came way back in 2017, where they defeated Ajax in Sweden, to lift the 2016/17 UEFA Europa League. There were a couple of arrivals in London on Wednesday, July 28 – one which might have flown under the radar and one which was quite high-profile.
