The Indian batting maestro had gotten himself tested for corona upon his return from Raipur, where he went to play the Road Safety World Series T20 tournament for India Legends, and his reports have come out positive.
Tendulkar, however, informed via a statement that he is only carrying ‘mild symptoms’ and that all his family members have given negative tests. The ‘Master Blaster’ is now under self-quarantine and taking all the necessary precautionary measures.
I’ve quarantined myself at home and am following all the necessary protocols as advised by my doctors,
Tendulkar tweeted.
I want to thank all the healthcare professionals who are supporting me and many others across the country. Take care, all of you.
Tendulkar was at his vintage best with the bat in the recently concluded Road Safety World Series T20 tournament for India Legends, whom he captained successfully to the title.
He finished among the competition’s top run-getters with 233 runs from his 7 innings at an average of 38.83 and strike-rate of 138.69. Even after more than seven years of his international retirement, Tendulkar showed there is still cricket left in him.
Meanwhile, in another news, former India player and Tendulkar’s teammate for the Road Safety World Series T20, Yusuf Pathan, also confirmed that he has tested COVID-19 positive. Yusuf took to Twitter on Saturday (March 27) and informed everyone about contracting the virus, albeit mentioning that he is carrying only “mild symptoms”.
I have quarantined myself at home and taking all the necessary precautions and medication required. I would request those who came in contact with me to get themselves tested at the earliest.
Yusuf wrote in a tweet.
Yusuf, who retired from international cricket earlier this year, played 57 ODIs and 22 T20Is for India. He was part of the country’s 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup-winning teams. In the Road Safety World Series T20 recently, Yusuf made 139 runs from his five matches and had a fantastic strike-rate of 171.60.
