Real Madrid are going through a tough phase and they know that they will soon need some reinforcements. Some of their players are at the end of their careers while others simply desire to move out in order to play more minutes.
According to reports on Calcio Mercato, Los Blancos are looking to sign Sassuolo star midfielder Manuel Locatelli. The former AC Milan man is also wanted by Italian giants Juventus, and therefore a tug of war will soon start between the clubs to secure the services of the 23-year-old Italian.
The centre midfielder has learnt the ropes at Atalanta before moving to AC Milan where he had a mixed stint and moved out to Sassuolo initially on loan and then the deal was made permanent. Locatelli’s all-round ability in the middle of the park has attracted suitors in the last couple of years.
His performances have impressed people at Juventus and Real Madrid as well. These two footballing giants will go up against each other in order to secure his services. Real Madrid are in the market for midfielders with Luka Modric entering the last few years of his footballing career and even Toni Kroos is in his early thirties. They do not even have a proper backup for their Brazilian ace in Casemiro. Therefore, a player like Locatelli, who can play in multiple roles in the middle of the park can be ideal for Zinedine Zidane.
Los Blancos are also considering options like Florian Neuhaus, who has been a metronome for Borussia Monchengladbach under the tutelage of Marco Rose. They also have an eye on Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga as he is considered as one of the most talented midfielders from the next generation. Surprisingly, even Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka is also on this wishlist but Real Madrid are certain that the German International won’t leave Bavaria, considering his stature at the club. Some reports also suggest that Zidane is also keen on bringing Olympique Lyon’s ace midfielder Houssem Aouar to Bernabeu next season.
Sassuolo are open to offers for their star midfielder and any bid around the €30 million mark may tempt them to sell him. But it remains to be seen whether Real Madrid makes the first move or if they pursue other targets. A possible tug of war with Juventus is also in the cards, which will only raise the asking fee for the Italian international.
