Manchester United will not make any rash decisions regarding the future of first-team manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, confirmed former Red Devil – and current football pundit – Gary Neville.
Calls to remove the Norwegian from the club have amplified in recent weeks among the United fanbase after a string of disappointing results, but the club is going back him until the end of the season, says Neville.
The former England international also defended his decision not to criticize Solskjaer publicly or demand that he be sacked from his position.
“He should be under massive pressure with the squad that has been assembled and the fact he’s been in the job now for two-and-a-half, three years. 100 percent,”
“But the club are not going to change him. The club are going to stick with him until the end of the season”.
Neville said on Sky Sports’ broadcast of Monday Night Football.
Concerns about the Red Devils’ current form and the lack of a significant overarching tactical structure have grown rapidly since the start of the season.
Solskjaer’s men have won just four of their last ten games across all competitions and are currently on a three-match winless streak in the Premier League. The team has slipped to sixth in the league table despite starting the season with a 5-1 thrashing of Leeds United.
Solskjaer is yet to win a trophy during his tenure as the manager of Manchester United. The Norwegian came close to lifting his first piece of silverware during the previous campaign when he led his team to the final of the UEFA Europa League only to lose to Villarreal on penalties.
