Manchester City left-back Benjamin Mendy’s request for bail was denied again ahead of his trial. The Frenchman was charged in August on three counts of rape and sexual assault, that occurred in October 2020 and January 2021.
Mendy, who is currently being held on remand at HMP Altcourse, Liverpool, is yet to enter pleas to the charges on him. Judge Patrick Thompson at the Chester Crown Court, overheard the defendant’s plea for bail for 50 minutes, and decided to turn it down. The media was not allowed to hear the plea.
His application for bail was refused as he had broken prior bail conditions imposed that he should not house parties until the charge on him is lifted.
The incidents track back to October last year, and he reportedly attacked three different women at his home in Withinlee Road, Prestbury.
One of the three women is said to be under the age of 18, and none of their identities are revealed to the media. He is also set to have raped a woman in August this year, shortly before he was charged by the police.

Mendy’s trial is set to take place on January 24th, 2022 and until then, the likely possibility is that he remains in custody. The27-year-old was suspended from the club indefinitely as he faces these accusations, pending a club investigation as well.
The player moved to Manchester City in July 2017 for a then-record fee among defenders of 52 million pounds. This was shortly after he won the French league title with AS Monaco, and was accompanied by his teammate Bernardo Silva on his way Etihad Stadium as well.
His career with the Premier League club was tarnished by plenty of injuries, and in the four years he stayed here, he has failed to deliver impressive performances.
Mendy was also part of the French World Cup-winning side in 2018, having first made his international debut in March 2017. He played just 40 minutes in a goalless draw against Denmark in the group stages, and went on to win 10 French caps.
The footballer will next have a chance of appealing for bail on November 15th.
