England star Harry Kane continues to be linked with an exit from Tottenham. The 27-year-old addressed his future recently while on international duty.
The prolific forward has been linked with a move away from London in recent months due to Tottenham’s failure to lift silverware. Jose Mourinho’s side was eliminated from the UEFA Europa League just before the international break, amplifying the calls for Kane’s exit.
When asked to address his Spurs future, he said:
It’s important that all my focus is on the two England games coming up now and the rest of the season with Spurs and then the Euros. To be thinking about speculation or rumours would be damaging in terms of my own performance.
I always like to be focused on one goal and one job and that’s to finish strong with Spurs, win these qualifiers with England and hopefully go on and have a great Euros.
I’m fully focussed on doing the job on the pitch from now until the end of the summer, and then we’ll see where we go from there.
Kane is currently in the national camp with England. He was rested by head coach Gareth Southgate for the Three Lions’ opening FIFA World Cup qualifier against San Marino (5-0). However, he is expected to start against Albania as the spearhead in attack.
The striker is enjoying another prolific season domestically. He has scored 27 times across all competitions during this campaign while also adding 16 assists. His partnership with Son Heung-min continues to be Tottenham’s main weapon while attacking opposition teams.
However, Spurs’ stagnation and inability to win silverware have led to rumours of Kane quitting the club. He has been linked with a move to Manchester City in the past where a spot might soon be opening up. The Citizens are expected to bid farewell to club legend Sergio Aguero after the current campaign. Aguero is yet to sign a contract extension despite being in the final year of his deal.
