Both Chelsea and Juventus will be without key men for their UEFA Champions League clash on Wednesday in Turin, which will take place on September 29.
The Blues midfielder N’Golo Kante will miss the game due to an illness, while half-backs Mason Mount and Reece James will also be on the sidelines after picking up injuries.
The Frenchman tested positive for COVID-19 and will spend some further time on the sidelines despite only just returning to the first team. Kante has previously missed missed three games this season due to an injury already.
Mount missed the Blues’ league reverse at home against Manchester City (0-1) last weekend, and has failed to be fit for the trip to Turin. James, who started in the loss against City, picked up an injury during the game. Thomas Tuchel will also be without Christian Pulisic as he continues his recovery.
Juve will be without key midfielder Paulo Dybala and striker Alvaro Morata. Both the teams already have a win on the board in the UEFA Champions League, courtesy of their opening day successes against Zenit Saint Petersburg and Malmo.
The Argentine former picked up an injury just 22 minutes into last weekend’s league game against Sampdoria, while the Spaniard was withdrawn in the 82nd minute.
Either side could take the lead in the group with a win on Wednesday night. Both Chelsea and Juventus won their respective opening group games and are currently on three points apiece. Whilst Chelsea overcame a resilient Zenit Saint-Petersburg (1-0) at home, Juventus blew Malmo 3-0 away in their clash.
