The recent rumours linking Erling Haaland to top clubs in Europe were slammed by the Borussia Dortmund CEO. Hans-Joachim Watzke was irritated with all the reports claiming that Dortmund will have to sell Haaland with the increasing interest.
Haaland is surely one of the hottest prospects in Europe and teams like Manchester United, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Barcelona and even Bayern Munich have been linked with the Norway international in the past and they will come back for him again next summer.
There was a lot of pressure on Dortmund this summer as many clubs inquired about the youngster. However, Chelsea were desperate to get Haaland as they made an official bid for the 21-year-old but could not shake the resolve of the German giants.
“It has not yet been decided whether he will really leave next summer,”
“We’ll just have a look. I heard someone say: ‘They have to sell Haaland because they are listed on the stock exchange.’ This is all bullsh*t. The decision whether someone is sold at our club is made by the management and only by the management.”
Watzke told Sport 1
Watzke highlighted how it is on Haaland to make a decision and also points out how he shares a good relationship with his agent, Mino Raiola, and the duo will assess the situation at the right time.
