Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has predicted that the Kolkata Knight Riders will reach the final of IPL’s ongoing edition. Despite a brash start to the campaign, the Knight Riders, have picked up things brilliantly in the UAE and are looking like a force to reckon with.
This prompted the Star Sports commentator to predict that the men in purple have a definitive chance of reaching the finals. Former KKR player Aakash Chopra is not alone, though. The franchise’s most successful skipper Gautam Gambhir also said in the post-match live session that KKR will reach the final.
Kolkata Knight Riders won just two games out of the seven they played in India before the pandemic brought a halt to the tournament. Eoin Morgan and his side were struggling to get a combination going, and it resulted in the team getting battered in most games. However, things started to take a turn for the good.
Upon reaching the middle-east, they registered two big wins over Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. Against RCB, they bundled them out for 92 runs and chased the total in next to no time.
They registered another big win against MI, chasing down a decent 156-run target in just 15.1 overs. Their Net Run Rate shot up drastically by these two wins and are now looking very positive to finish in the top four. As it stands, the Knight Riders are above Rajasthan and Mumbai on the points table, at fourth.

In their next game, the 2012 and 2014 champions will be up against Chennai Super Kings, who have been in scintillating form, having won seven matches and have very nearly confirmed their position in the playoffs.
Morgan will be wary of what this game could mean in their hunt for the big prize, and having found a template to move forward, he will be hoping his side will continue the good work.
