In an interview for the club’s podcast series ‘ADN de Leao’, Dolores Aveiro has revealed that she would like her son to return to childhood club.
After speculation involving Real Madrid and Manchester City, the 36-year-old left Juventus to return to Manchester United after 12 years. The five-time Ballon D’or winner has announced his comeback, scoring a brace against Newcastle (5-1) in the Premier League.
Recently, his mother Dolores – a big supporter of the Portuguese champions, where Ronaldo came up the ranks before joinin United back in 2003- revealed she would like Cristiano to return to Lisbon one day:
“Ronaldo has to come back here, if it was up to me he’d be here already. He likes watching Sporting’s games.
“I’ve already told him: ‘Son, before I die, I want to see you return to Sporting.'”
Cristiano Ronaldo has always kept his door open for Sporting CP as he shares a deep bond with the club. However, the forward’s response to his mother’s claims was, “we’ll see’.
But there is a possibility that another member from their family may feature for Sporting CP in future, and that is Ronaldo’s son Cristiano Junior. The 11-year-old boy is a very promising player in Manchester United’s academy. Aveiro claims that Cristiano Junior is better than his dad at the same age. She also wishes to see the father-son duo in Sporting CP colours.
There were rumours of Ronaldo joining Manchester United’s arch-rivals City as he wanted to move away from the Turin club. City were looking for a replacement after they failed to sign Harry Kane this summer. Hence Ronaldo emerged as a target. But Aveiro rubbished the claims as her son assured her that he is joining the Red Devils.
“‘Mum, don’t worry about what they’re saying because I’m going to Manchester United,'”
she revealed what her son told her.
