Rishabh Pant was appointed Delhi Capitals’ captain ahead of this season, with Shreyas Iyer unavailable for selection. Despite the return of Iyer, the swashbuckling left-hander has retained his position as the franchise skipper.
With six wins in eight games, the Capitals are currently top of the table. Recently, Pant mentioned that the side are focused on what they have been doing without tinkering much with the thought process.
‘’Our ultimate goal is to win the trophy, but we are going to focus on our process. Hopefully, we can continue to play the way we did in the first half of the IPL 2021 season, and we can go on and win the IPL trophy this year,’’
Pant said.
Feels good to be out of the quarantine
The quarantine days for some of these players have been tough to manage, and Pant spoke about how good it was to get out of it finally. The Indian players in England were able to travel to UAE a few days earlier than anticipated because of the COVID outbreak, and they have successfully completed the six-day quarantine before beginning their practice.
“I am feeling really good especially after coming out of the quarantine, it’s nice because you know nowadays, it’s getting difficult to quarantine but it’s good to see new faces, love to meet the teammates.
In quarantine, I was just trying to sit outside in the balcony and all those things but coming to practice on the first day, it’s pretty hot out there. But, yes, getting used to the conditions. Hopefully, I can do it in two-three days,”
Pant stated.
The Delhi Capitals will kick-start their second phase with a game against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Dubai on September 22. Having won six games already, the Capitals will want to seal their berth in the playoffs and also try to finish in the top two, now that they have a clear advantage in that pursuit.
