The lions are all set to roar in IPL 2021 with, the new kit redesigned for the first time since 2008.
The CSK official Twitter account unveiled the new jersey of the team for the upcoming IPL season. Captain cool MS Dhoni unboxed the new jersey in a video that showcased the new sponsor’s name and camouflage on its shoulders as a tribute to the Indian armed forces.
The new jersey features the symbolic lion on the front left of the jersey along with new sponsor Myntra. Above the franchise’s logo, on the top left, three stars denote the three titles won by the team in 2010, 2011 and 2018.
The club’s CEO KS Viswanathan mentioned that they wanted to raise awareness about the armed forces’ significance:
It has been on our mind for some time now to find ways to raise awareness about the significant and selfless role of the armed forces. The camouflage is an appreciation of their service they are the true heroes.
The Chennai Super Kings have always had a close relationship with the armed forces and showed their appreciation for them by presenting a cheque of Rs. 2 crores at the start of the 2019 IPL season. Captain MS Dhoni himself has served as honorary Lieutenant Colonel with the Territorial Army.
Ravindra Jadeja left a humorous comment on the video shared by the team on their official Twitter.

Veteran batsman Suresh Raina was impressed by the new design of the jersey. The Super Kings begin their IPL tournament against the Delhi Capitals on the 10th of April.
