Another short-format tournament for the retired cricketers has been launched by Absolute Legends Sports (P) Ltd. The T20 tournament named ‘Legends League Cricket’ is set to be unveiled to cricket fans all over the globe.
The competition will be played in the T20 format and will have a unique tournament design, as it will be played twice in a year.
In the first edition, a tri-series will be conducted, with the participating teams being an Indian team, one team representing the rest of Asia and one of the rest of the world. The three sides will play six league games each before the two top teams enter a finale clash.
The tournament is scheduled to be played in March 2022, and it is learnt that the second iteration of the competition, which will be held soon after the first, will be following the same tri-series format.
Raman Raheja, co-founder & CEO of the tournament, hinted the league will have big names signed up from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, England and other countries.
“They may have retired but the fans cannot fathom the exit of their favourite players suddenly. We feel that there is lot of cricket left in some of the world class senior cricketers.
“Through LLC, we are committed to deliver World Class Cricket action for cricketing fans. The objective is to revive the old rivalries of Cricket back in the field,”
said Raheja.
There have been other tournaments with retired cricketers featuring, but LLC wishes to surpass them in excitement through the quality of cricket available on show.
