Kylian Mbappe was the subject of a failed bid from Real this summer. The Spanish giants are expected to try and sign the youngster next year for free, but his teammate Ander Herrera is hopeful that he will remain in Paris.
The former Manchester United midfielder revealed that the message from the club during the transfer saga was clear and said that he hopes that the Frenchman continues to play for PSG in the future, as well.
“I had the intuition that he was going to stay,”
“What the club had always told us is that Mbappe was staying. I asked him two weeks before the market closed and he told me ‘I am here’. Everything I saw in the press did not marry with what happened here.
“What happens this season may affect Mbappe staying.”
Herrera told El Larguero.
PSG have significantly strengthened their squad in the hopes of winning a UEFA Champions League title and, potentially, convincing Mbappe of continuing his career in Paris. The Parisiens signed Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Georginio Wijnaldum on free transfers this summer while also completing deals for Achraf Hakimi, Nuno Mendes, and Danilo Pereira.
A late approach for Mbappe from Los Blancos proved to be a minor blip in an otherwise sensational transfer window for PSG. The French club rejected Real’s bids for the France international, the last of which was thought to be in the region of €220 million. However, the club has not made any progress in their attempts to get the player to recommit his future and now stand to lose him for free next summer.
