Reports claim that Manchester United’s key target is open to a move to England, should they approach him for a transfer.
According to a report by the Manchester Evening News, Villareal defender Pau Torres is open to negotiations. The Spanish defender, who missed out on a national team call-up, is being courted by clubs all over Europe.
The report states that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is considering asking the club to sign the 24-year-old as he continues to look for the perfect defensive partner for Harry Maguire.
Torres is rumoured to have a €60 Million clause in his current contract, which runs on until 2024. Nonetheless, his current club’s board is reportedly open to a player-plus-cash deal.
The 24-year-old central defender has had admiring glances from clubs all over the continent, including those of United’s bitter rivals Manchester City. It is reported that he will be open to moving to England, should a deal be arranged for the same. The report also states that any transfer will have to occur once Euro is concluded this summer, with Torres expected to be named in the final squad by Luis Enrique.
Meanwhile, Torres’ arrival at Old Trafford could signal the end of Phil Jones and Eric Bailly. The former has been frozen out by Solskjaer while the latter is reportedly unhappy with the club over a potential new contract.
Bailly, who himself joined Manchester United from Villarreal, feels disrespected by the club – reveals a report. The Red Devils are set to offer him a new deal which the player may reject due to the lack of first-team playing opportunities. The Ivorian joined the club in 2016 but has played a bit-part role due to persistent injury problems.
