Chelsea midfielder Jorginho could be on his way out if the words of his agent are to be believed. Meanwhile, the Blues are close to reaching an agreement regarding the Andreas Christensen’s contract extension, as much was hinted at by the player himself.
Plenty of contract extensions are on the agenda for Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia, with several key deals running out either next season or the one beyond.
It looks like Christensen will be the first to commit his future to the club, as much being hinted at by the player himself in a recent interview.
“I know a lot is being said right now. I can not say too much, but I think it looks good.
“We have won the Champions League and the Super Cup. I am very happy to be at this club and feel Chelsea are the right place to be in England.”
the Dane said, as per Goal.
Christensen’s re-emergence tied up with Thomas Tuchel’s arrival at Chelsea in January 2021, whose shift in formation allowed the Danish international to perform at his best.
The centre-back was often rotated with veteran Thiago Silva but was able to seamlessly take the latter’s place in the time when called upon – as he did in the Champions League final.
One player who might not accept Chelsea’s extension offer and instead seek a return to Italy is Jorginho. The 2021 UEFA Men’s Player of the Year could be on his way back to Serie A, stated his agent Joao Santos.
“He has a contract with Chelsea until [June] 2023,”
Obviously, it would be a dream for him to return to Italy, hopefully after winning the World Cup.
“We’ll have to see what the market looks like in a couple of years and what the other situations are.”
Santos said in an interview with Radio Bianconera.
Santos confirmed that Jorginho has had previous interest from Serie A, especially from Juventus, where his former boss Maurizio Sarri spent a season in charge.
