Before returning to Manchester United on August 31, Cristiano Ronaldo spoke at length with Piers Morgan over dinner. There the journalist asked him a cheeky question about the best player Cristiano has played against, and the Portuguese talisman’s answer was very straightforward.
The 36-year-old named his biggest rival, Lionel Messi, who recently joined Paris Saint-Germain after 17 years with Barcelona. However, he claimed himself to be the best player in the sport and feels that everyone should think of themselves as the best in their job.
“If you don’t think you are the best. If you don’t believe you are No 1 in your job, then you’re not thinking properly.”
Ronaldo explained his call to Morgan,
Ronaldo was also asked to comment on how he feels to have this kind of fame.
“When it starts, it’s great. You are famous, you are a fantastic player, you win trophies, you score goals, you are on the first page of the paper, on television,”
“But after many years, you look at life in a different way. You have a girlfriend, you have kids, you want some privacy and there’s no privacy any more. My privacy has gone.”
Ronaldo said.
The Portuguese icon revealed that he would pay to have his privacy back:
“If I had the opportunity now, I would pay to have back my privacy. People say ‘Ah, yeah, but you are rich. You have money, you have cars, you have houses’, but this is not everything. Trust me, to be too famous is not good.”
The 36-year-old is now undergoing quarantine and will be out to train with his teammates very soon.
There are chances that Ronaldo may feature for the Red Devils in their next Premier League fixture against Newcastle United (September 11).
