Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford after 12 years has created a massive buzz among fans worldwide. Several reports even claim that Queen Elizabeth has asked for Manchester United shirts with Ronaldo’s signature on them.
The Portuguese was pushing for a move out of Juventus this summer. There were talks of the 36-year-old joining Manchester City as they were keen to sign a forward after they failed to land England skipper Harry Kane. However, United hijacked the deal in the latter stages and announced the return of the former Real Madrid and Juventus striker.
On Wednesday, the Sports Innovation Society tweeted that the Queen Elizabeth has ordered 80 United jerseys with Ronaldo’s name imprinted on it. Some reports suggested that the Queen had ordered the jersey for the royal staff. She also ordered one shirt with the Cristiano’s signature on it.
However, the institution have now deleted their tweet. They admit that they have not found enough facts to support their claim.
Earlier there have been reports of the Queen’s love for sports and especially football. It was known that West Ham United is the club that holds a special place in her heart. Prince William has been the most enthusiastic football fan in the royal family. He was often seen at the stands of Villa Park, cheering for Aston Villa.
Ronaldo is yet to don the Manchester United jersey after his return. Some paperwork was left, which the club has recently completed. Hence there are chances that the Portuguese talisman may well be in action against Newcastle United in the next Premier League fixture (September 11).
