RR fast bowler Andrew Tye has pulled out of the UAE leg of the IPL 2021 after saying that it’s been a long year, and he has been away from home. Rajasthan Royals have named Tabraiz Shamsi as the replacement player.
“It is with great regret that I have to pull out of the remainder of the IPL 2021 with the Rajasthan Royals.
It has been a long year for me which has kept me away from home for a lengthy period, and the disappointment of not making it to the World Cup squad has added to the dismay.
Therefore, keeping my best interests in mind, I had to make this tough decision of staying at home and preparing myself mentally and physically for next year’s T20 World Cup,”
the Australian was quoted saying.
Tye didn’t play a single game in the first half of the season and he has now been replaced by Tabraiz Shamsi. The South African chinaman spinner is currently the No. 1 ranked T20I bowler in the world.
Since the start of the year 2020, Shamsi has picked up 33 wickets at an economy rate of 6.33 in T20I cricket.
Shamsi has already featured in the IPL before. He was a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad in the 2016 season and even played four games, picking up three wickets.
Shamsi is the second replacement player that the Royal have announced. Jos Buttler ruled himself out of the second half and Glenn Phillips was named his replacement.
