PSG sporting director Leonardo has confirmed that the club won’t stand in Mbappe’s way if certain conditions are met. The Madrid club approached Ligue 1 runners-up with the 160m bid on Tuesday night, but reports claim that it was rejected. Leonardo confirmed the same in his interview with RMC Sport.
In the latest developments, Leonardo also affirmed the Frenchman’s desire to leave the club for Real. The Brazilian claimed no one would stand in the player’s way if he wishes to complete the switch, but it would have to be on the club’s terms.
“Kylian Mbappé wants to leave, that seems clear. If Real Madrid are making an offer, that seems clear… Me I am giving a position, that, I think, is clear for everyone,”
“If he wants to leave, we will not hold him back, but on our terms.”
Leonardo told RMC Sport.
Leonardo also confirmed that Paris Saint-Germain has no desire to sell the player themselves, instead, they had planned to offer him a new contract. However, multiple reports claim that Mbappe rejected several of PSG’s renewal offers and is a year off from walking away from the club for free.
“We have never opened the door to a departure. Never,”
“Our aim is to extend his contract and keep him. But if a player wants to leave, that is on our terms, that goes not only for Kylian but for all the players.”
he said.
Recent reports have claimed that PSG will let the Frenchman join Real Madrid, if they receive an offer in the region of 200 million euros – 20 million more than what they agreed to pay AS Monaco in 2017.
Should Los Blancos pay the price, Mbappe would become the second most expensive transfer in football and the most expensive player in history in terms of total accumulated fees.
