One of the longest transfer sagas of this transfer window came to an end as Harry Kane has decided to stay at Tottenham Hotspur despite Manchester City links
England international was on the radar of reigning Premier League champions, who are in the hunt for a striker after their talismanic target man Sergio Aguero joined Barcelona on a free transfer in June.
It was reported in the early days of the transfer window that the Cityzens have bid £100 million for the striker, which will also see one of Pep Guardiola’s players heading to the North London club. After that bid was rejected, reports surfaced of a new bid, which was in excess of £120 million.
However, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has remained firm in his stance of not considering any offer from City club that is not north of £150 million.
Since the last few days, it was anybody’s guess on whether City were looking to match that price, but the 28-year-old has now made it clear that he will not be leaving Spurs this summer.
“It was incredible to see the reception from the Spurs fans on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I’ve had in the last few weeks. I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success,”

‘Fantastic news’: Spurs manager Santo over the moon with Kane’s decision
Barring a shock 1-0 defeat against Pacos de Ferreira in the UEFA Europa Conference League aside, Nuno Espirito Santo made a bright start to his managerial career at Spurs, defeating Manchester City (1-0) and Wolverhampton (1-0) in the first two Premier League matches.
His main headache for the last few days was not how his players were performing on the pitch, but whether he will have the chance to avail Spurs’ deadliest weapon in the ongoing season. Now that he has an answer, Santo is very understandably ecstatic.
“Great news. Fantastic news. I think since Harry joined us he has been working so this is what we value. His attitude in training has been excellent,”
“It’s finished, Harry is going to be with us. He is an option for tomorrow. It is great news for everybody. We are all very happy, (Kane is) one of the best players in the world. Delighted to have one more option for the season ahead of us,”
said the Portuguese, as per quotes in The Guardian.
