On Tuesday, the BCCI revealed the squad that will take on Australia on the upcoming tour. Meghna Singh, Renuka Singh received maiden call-ups while Rajeshwari Gayakwad returned for India Women’s tour of Australia in September and October.

The Indian contingent is set to leave for Australia on August 29 for the tour comprising one-off Test and three ODIs & T20Is each. The team will undergo a mandatory two-week quarantine after they arrive in Australia.

The board had organised a 35-member training camp at Bengaluru ahead of the tour, where the players went through match simulations and skill-based training. The final squad was selected from that group.

The selectors have rewarded Meghna Singh and Renuka Singh for their brilliant performance in the senior One-Day trophy in April. The 27yr old Meghna had picked five wickets for Railways while Renuka had taken nine scalps for Himachal Pradesh in the tournament.

After missing the England tour due to a knee injury and coronavirus, Rajeshwari Gayakwad has been called back into both Test and limited overs squads. Left-handed batter Yastika Bhatia also earned a place in both squads.

“The All-India Senior Women’s Selection Committee on Tuesday picked the squads for India Women’s upcoming tour in Australia. The series will comprise 3 ODIs, one Test match and 3 T20Is,”

the BCCI stated in a media release.

Mithali Raj will lead the 18-member squad for the one-off Test and three ODIs, while Harmanpreet Kaur has been given a 17-member squad for T20I series. The women had an impressive showing in England where they had drawn the one-off Test and won a match each in limited overs series. The Australia tour will be a huge challenge in front of them.
