Manchester United are applying the finishing touches before officially unveiling Raphael Varane as a Red Devil. The club confirmed on Tuesday, July 27, that an agreement had been struck with Real Madrid over the transfer of Varane. However, they stopped short of confirming the entire deal, which is subject to the player passing his medical examinations before agreeing to personal terms. Several reports have claimed that the latter should not be a problem.
The club confirmed the same via its official website.

Formalities aside, Varane will become Manchester United’s third signing this summer. The Red Devils signed Tom Heaton and Jadon Sancho last month, paying a hefty fee for the latter to Borussia Dortmund. Varane, meanwhile, is expected to cost Manchester United 50 million euros besides add-ons, which comes to around 35 million pounds. The Frenchman leaves Real Madrid after a decade, during which he won four UEFA Champions League titles.
In further exciting news for the Manchester United faithful, 16-year-old Ethan Ennis confirmed on social media that he has joined the club’s academy. Ennis, who turned down Liverpool’s attempts to keep him in their academy for longer, was also being pursued by Chelsea. The youngster even visited the Blues’ famed Cobham training ground but ended up choosing Manchester United.
Ennis played seven times for Liverpool’s under-18 side last season and showed glimpses of his potential. The youngster, who can play both as a midfielder and a striker, netted a FA Youth Cup hattrick in his maiden appearance and scored twice in the league. He becomes the first new signing this summer for the Manchester United academy.
