Manchester United confirmed the arrival of Jadon Sancho earlier this month, following a pursuit that lasted almost a year. Sancho’s arrival, however, could push some players towards the exit, albeit temporarily.
While Manchester United failed to sign Sancho last summer, they managed to strike an agreement with Atalanta for the future transfer of Amad Diallo. The Ivorian winger joined the club in January, made a handful of appearances, and even scored a crucial goal in the Europa League. However, his future, in the short-term at least, could lie away from OId Trafford.
Goal reports United are considering their options when it comes to Amad, which includes sending him out on loan for the upcoming season.
The youngster was the subject of loan interest from his ex-club Atalanta last January, who wanted to keep him until the end of the season. Manchester United declined the proposal on that occasion, intending to ease Amad into the first-team set-up.
Recently quizzed about Amad’s future, given the arrival of big-money signin Sancho, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed that the club intends to sit with the player to discuss his future.
We use every single player, we think about every single player’s – and the club’s – best pathway; what’s best for the season and best for the future.
he said.
Amad’s enjoying the Olympics. We’ll sit down towards the end of the window and see where we are. Of course, Marcus Rashford, what’s the injury status? We’ll make a decision on Amad when he comes back and sit down with him.
Solskjaer, meanwhile, also confirmed that Uruguayan Facundo Pellestri will spend the new season out on loan again. Pellestri signed for the Red Devils last summer as well but was on loan at Alaves between January and June 2021. It is reported that the Spanish club want to take the winger on a temporary deal once more for the coming season.
Pellestri and Amad’s departure could leave Manchester United short on the wings, but Solskjaer will still have some capable players at his disposal, such as Daniel James and Jesse Lingard, should they decide to stay at Old Trafford.
