The Jadon Sancho saga at Manchester United might be finally nearing its long-awaited completion. Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that United are extremely close to completing the signing of the Borussia Dortmund winger and that a move for the 21-year-old this summer is certainly on the cards.
Sancho was tipped with a move to United last summer as well but the Red Devils could not match Dortmund’s asking price of £120 million for the Englishman and consequently, Sancho ended up staying at the Signal Iduna Park. Sancho looks set to move to the other side of Manchester this summer, having previously been a City player before being sold off to the former Bundesliga champions.
Raphael Varane has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer and Spanish journalist Pipi Estrada, on El Chiringuito TV claimed that ‘agreement is total’ for the transfer of the French center-back.
The 28-year-old has only got a year left on his contract and is unlikely to accept a new contract at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer. Therefore, Real will have no choice but to sell him this summer unless they want to risk losing him for free next summer.
The former La Liga champions were believed to have set an £80 million asking fee for the Frenchman but various sources have reported that Madrid have lowered their asking fee to as low as £60 million, following United’s rumored £50 million bid attempt to sign the 28-year-old.
It was understood that no talks would be held during Euro 2020 but France’s exit from the competition is likely to speed things up.
In other developments, Diogo Dalot has been linked with a move to Spain this summer. Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid apparently wants the Portuguese international at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer. MEN further understands that Lucas Vasquez could be on his way out of Madrid this summer and consequently, Ancelotti will be left with only one right-back in Dani Carvajal.
United, too, would be left with only one right back in Aaron Wan Bissaka. Dalot impressed in his loan spell at AC Milan and is unlikely to feature in the United XI as much as he did at San Siro. Having said that, United could sell him and trust their academy products to serve as a backup for Wan Bissaka.
Manchester United’s transfer story of this summer is far from reaching a conclusion as the former Premier League champions have been linked with Rennes’ Eduardo Camavinga. The French prodigy has been linked with a move to Real and Paris Saint-Germain this summer but with United said to be in the frame too, things could get interesting.
Camavinga has got only a year left in his current contract and the French side could be looking to cash in by accepting a huge fee for the 18-year-old. Daily Mail understands that United have reached out to the Frenchman’s representatives over a potential deal.
For now, Rennes are in no hurry whatsoever to part ways with their prized asset as claimed by their club president.
For the moment, we don’t have an agreement on one side or the other. For the moment, Eduardo is here.
There are discussions that exist between the clubs, with the player as well. We still haven’t found a solution.
Either we find a way to extend his contract, or a club is interested in Eduardo and we’ll reflect on the proposal that we’re given.
We’re not obliged to sell a player who has a year left of his contract. Today, there has been no official proposal on the president’s desk.
United have certainly got their hands busy as the Red Devils are potentially facing their busiest summer window, yet.
