Chelsea have had a quiet summer so far, with much of the club’s business being conducted behind closed doors. The Blues are said to be preparing a massive bid for Erling Haaland, while Olivier Giroud is edging closer to AC Milan.
According to a report by 90min, Chelsea are preparing a whopping 150 million pounds offer for Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland. The Norwegian forward is among the most coveted athletes in the world presently and has a long list of suitors hoping to secure his services either this year or the next. Dortmund, however, have reiterated their stance over Haaland, claiming the striker to be strictly not for sale.
The report claims that Chelsea are unfazed by paying double what Haaland could potentially cost next season, courtesy of a release clause. This means that the Blues would have to cough up roughly around 150 million pounds to secure his services – a fee which they believe will make Dortmund sit up and take notice. However, the report further claims that the London outfit is hoping to bring the final price down to 135 million, and that talks have already taken place with the player’s camp.
Furthermore, Haaland is said to be keen on a move to London, and that should mean personal terms won’t be an issue. Meanwhile, the lack of a release clause this season could permit Chelsea to structure the payment in such a way as to avoid any serious financial implications.
While Chelsea are working hard to secure the services of Haaland, they are expected to let one of their players complete a move abroad. Fabrizio Romano reports that AC Milan are in talks with Olivier Giroud’s representatives over a possible move to Serie A.
The Italian outfit, which has qualified for the Champions League this season after a lengthy absence, is hoping to conclude an agreement with both the player and his club in the coming days. Giroud recently renewed his contract with Chelsea for another year, but that should not be a hindrance.
