Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho continues his verbal attack on former colleague Luke Shaw as he criticized the Englishman for his poor set-piece delivery. Shaw retorted by claiming that he is unfazed by the constant criticism.
The Portuguese tactician – who coached Shaw from 2016 till late 2018 – criticized the left-back again for his poor set-piece delivery while on international duty. Mourinho claimed Shaw’s set-pieces were “dramatically bad” forcing the player to retort to the accusation.
Shaw claimed to be unfazed by the criticism, revealing that he is used to it. However, the left-back also stated that he himself didn’t think his set-pieces were exceptionally poor, leading him to question Mourinho’s take.
Look, he has got to do his job. I’m used to him saying negative stuff about me, so I just pass it by.
Shaw said.
His voice is obviously very big. He likes to talk a lot about me, as everyone has seen recently. But his voice is his own. He can say what he wants, I will focus on myself.
Shaw shed light on the times he spent under Mourinho in training at Manchester United. The Englishman claimed to be among the players his boss did not like and revealed that he could never get back to his good side.
He likes some players, he doesn’t like others.
Shaw continued.
I fell into the category where he didn’t like me. I tried as hard as I could to get back into his side but it never worked out, no matter what I did. There is no hiding that we didn’t get on.
Shaw joined the England camp this summer on the back of one of the more successful seasons of his career. The left-back left behind his injury troubles to play a crucial role for Manchester United as they secured qualification to the UEFA Champions League and were beaten in the final of the UEFA Europa League.
The Englishman subsequently started two of his nation’s three group games during the UEFA Euro 2020 and is in line to make a third appearance in the Round-of-16 against Germany.
