The Norweigan striker from Borussia Dortmund evidently wants to play in the La Liga as FC Barcelona and Real Madrid were recently in contact with his agent, Mino Raiola, and father, Alf Inge Haaland.
The rumours of Erling Haaland making a move in the 2021 summer transfer window ripened up a lot more than expected as the Norwegian’s agent Mino Raiola and his father Alfie Haaland visited Spain.
They landed at the Barcelona Airport on Thursday to hold talks with FC Barcelona. Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta’s chauffeur, escorted them to the office, and the representatives held an hour-long deliberation with the newly-elected head. The representatives then took a flight to Madrid to visit the 13-times Champions League winners, Real Madrid CF.
Erling Haaland reportedly only wants to play for either FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF as per Catalunya Radio reports. However, there are doubts whether the Catalans can finance a deal, especially since the recent club audits suggest that they will incur an aggregate loss of 350M pounds by the end of the current season, followed by a 730M pound debt. However, the Blaugranes can certainly hope for a move since the Los Blancos aim to get Kylian Mbappe from Paris-Saint Germain.
Haaland has been in exceptional form for Borussia Dortmund since he departed from RB Salzburg. He has scored 36 goals in 34 games for the German side and is a lethal striker. Most of the top clubs across the top European Leagues are in contention for the signature of the young Norwegian. The likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and FC Barcelona are all in the race.
However, Haaland’s move to the top clubs might not happen after all in the 2021 summer window since clubs can get a better deal as far as the transfer fee is concerned in the concurrent window in 2022. He reportedly has 75 Million pounds as a clause for a move in the subsequent season, which is several million lower than his possible current transfer fee – which will range anywhere between 100 and 150 million pounds.
