Nepal’s Everest Premier League got another big player as a wicket-keeper batsman. The Sri Lankan wicket-keeper batsman expressed his excitement through a video message and is looking forward to taking part in Nepal’s T20 league.
“I am so excited to visit the beautiful country of Nepal and I am very much looking forward to a great Everest Premier League season with the Gladiators,”
Chandimal was quoted saying in a video message.
The 31-year-old brings a lot of value and experience to the Bhairahawa Gladiators line-up. They already have the services of Dwayne Smith, and Chandimal only bolsters the batting line-up. The Sri Lankan has been around the international arena for more than a decade now.
He has a good T20 record as well and has amassed 3145 runs at an average of 29.39 and a strike-rate of 118.58 from 137 T20 matches.
In his last international series against West Indies earlier this year, Chandimal scored a fifty each in the ODI and T20I series. In his last T20 league – Lanka Premier League, he aggregated 246 runs at an 41.00 and a strike-rate of 129.47.
On the other hand, Pakistan all-rounder Danish Aziz has been signed by the Kathmandu Kings XI. He joins the likes of veteran Pakistan all-rounder and superstar Shahid Afridi and Nepal star leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane. Aziz has played a couple of T20Is and as many ODIs for Pakistan. Overall, he has played 28 T20s and scored 528 runs at an average of 37.78 while striking at 142.20. He has also taken eight wickets.
The last edition of the Everest Premier League was played back in 2018. The 2020 season was called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the upcoming 2021 edition is scheduled to be played between September 25 and October 9. The Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur will host all the games of this six-team tournament.
